2008 Fall Law Attendee

So in the Information for scholars and families packet they say to be prepared for the supreme court simulation and the mock trial. How do we prepare for that? What do we study?

I know that our days are very busy and we go by a schedule. Do we ever get brakes?
Do we get homework and assigments to turn in while we are there? Are there any recognitions or awards at the end?

Is everyone ALWAYS professional and very serious or are they just normal people dressed up : ]

To anyone who has alreday gone please answer my questions.

I will be attending the Fall Law Forum in Washington D.C. [november 11th-16] Add me on facebook: Annel Gonzalez

hey annel. my name is ashley...i went to nylf/law in november of 2007. it was the best experience of my LIFE im so jealous that you're going in 08! ill try to answer all of your questions here...
on the supreme court simulation, just basically read the stuff they give you when you get there. they'll give you this huge book--just skim through it. if your FA gives you an assignment, do it. you can't really study much now; wait til you get there and youll have PLENTY to read.

the days are very busy, but you will get short breaks. a lot of the time when youre in DC itself youll get free time to roam the city with your friends. take tons of pictures!!

the only way you'll get homework assignments is if you take a main role in the mock trial (defense attorney, prosecutor, witness, etc). then, youll have to either build a case or prepare for your role. nothing is too hard. but remember, you're there to work and learn, so the homework assignments are definitely worth it!

there usually arent recognitions or awards at the end, just a dance with all your friends where they play a slideshow with pictures from the whole week.

everyones not always professional or very serious...everyones really nice, but serious when they have to be. be on your best behavior, you dont want to embarrass yourself.

have an AMAZING time; if you have any more questions, feel free to add me on facebook: Ashley Lavery

Hey. My name is Ian, and I went this summer.

Annel-
You dont need to study AT ALL. I didnt and no one there with me did, and we all did fine. They give you what you need to know there.

You get breaks in the morning for like half an hour after breakfast and at night until 11. And when you go touring, you just hang out with your friends.
You get a certifictae thing at the end.

Evryone is normal and very friendly...cause everyone wants to make friends.

Matt-
BRING YOUR CAMERA!!!!
You will want it so much if you dont bring it.
I brought my iPod to tune out my roommates when I was writing my brief for the supreme court case...it came in handy then.
Laptops are never needed and it cost like 10 dollars a night for internet at the hotel.

You're pretty much always dressed up during the day, but do bring casual clothes. Youll want them when doing nothing.

I hope I helped.
If you have any questions, my email is Guitar_rocks_3@yahoo.com.

And, I'm just counting down the days! I just really wanna make friends and do a good job! Well, if anyone wants to talk about it or give me random info my AIM is fashionhottie1@yahoo.com (it includes the @yahoo.com, long story lmao) or you can email me at fashionhottie1@yahooo.com!
