Hi everyone,

I just got my letter inviting me to the fall program. After reading all the info on the web and such, I really think it'll be a cool program. I have one main concern though-I am a Quaker. I don't believe in war and I spend lots of my time attempting to alieviate conflict, on a global and local scale. I've helped support peacemakers in Iraq, for instance, through letter writing and supply sending. I also do not believe in an "active" military, as we call it in Quakerism- while a defense system is necessary in this day and age, it should be used just for that- defense. Of course, different Quakers take this to different extremes, but I agree with this principal. After seeing things about people in the ROTC and whatnot attending and loving this program, I'm a bit worried. Would this program be for me? Would I be comfortable discussing my values and ideals, mostly based on Quakerism and liberalism, in this kind of enviornment?

Thanks a lot.
