I received a nomination, and I'm kind of interested, but I really have no idea what this entire thing is supposed to do for you. And what exactly do you learn in National Security? I don't really have a clue about what jobs or fields are in this program.
This forum teaches you what decesions have to be made to protect America. They take you through the steps on how they decide the best solution. After you learn everythng they give you a real world senario and let you and your group find the best solution. You get to be in the middle of national security. Not many people get that opprtunity and you also get to meet a lot of cool people. I went two years ago and I still talk to most of the people in my group. IF you have any more questions let me know.
Just to add a bit to what Alex said, the NS forum tries to show you how national security plans are developed and carried out. You learn the multiple elements that go into these strategies (diplomacy, defense, intelligence, etc.) and then they take it a step further by putting you in the middle of it, as Alex wrote. It's a ton of fun, and I highly recommend it too. Jobwise, there are literally thousands of jobs in NS - CIA, FBI, NSA, DHS, military, State Dept., Pentagon, even Congress and the President all add to the field. Each of these places offer tons of different jobs; for the CIA, you could be a linguist/computer geek/administrator/field agent/dozens of other jobs. It's really a wide-ranging field, and the program covers quite a few of them.
