Hello,
I have received a letter today which stated the fact that I was nominated for NYLF National Security as an Alumni. I am very confused as to why I have been chosen because I hardly know anyone in my state. I moved into my school this year, so I am still very unfamiliar with others. I don't know who has nominated me and why. My father was very pleased with the letter, but I would like to know if the letter is actually legit. In the letter they mentioned "You maybe familiar with another student that represented your school", so does that mean that student has nominated me? They actually mentioned the person's name, but I didn't feel it was right for me to expose it the to the public. I have actually never heard of this particular student. Please help me resolve this confusion.
Also, what are the benefits of this program? Is it useful towards my resume and/or college?

Thanks,
Miraj

I also am very confused as to why i was sent an invitation to this fourm. How did they pick me to send the letter to and why did i get inted to the fourm on national security? What made them deside national security out of the other two? I am very confused on what this is all about ?
Thanks

I was nominated by my principal and counselor..the two nominated multiple students from my school but I am the only one going...we were all nominated for the forum on Medicine... there might be alumni from your school that previously went to the forum on National Security... Are you interested in National Security?

I do not know why they choose National Security for me out of anything. I don't know about National Security. Other kids said it is just spam mail and just ignore it, is it true?

no it is definently not spam mail... if you are interested in the program you or your parents should ask the teachers and staff at your school if they nominated you! If not try and see if you can switch to a different program! I think that NYLF is very flexible with that sort of thing. You should read up on National Security to find out if you are interested in it!

No this is not spam, I'm an alumni from 2005, it was called Defence, Intellegence and Diplomacy when I attended the forum. It was probably the best experence of my life. It showed me how to work with people I didnt know. It will show you places and things that the average civilian doesnt see in a life time. At first I thought it was a spam too but its not at all. Its an awesome program, it looks great for college too.

I know that my ROTC instructer nominated a large group of students for the fourm on national security. It is possible that is how you were nominated (given that you are enrolled in ROTC) or another government funded class.

I attended this forum last year. I was nominated by my JROTC instructor. Once you go they tell us that you were selected as some of the smartest people in the country that show an interest in National security. Before we leave they challenged us to go out and find some people that we thought was smart enough to attend this forum. I nominated 3 people and I didnt tell them. I let it be a surprise and that is what could have happend with all of you.

And Kiran if you have questions you can message me. Im in the Air Force getting ready for pre-deployment training so my replys might be slow but i will certainly help.
