The moderators would like to invite any willing NYLF/MED Attendee to become moderator on the NYLF Message Boards.

Moderators volunteer, and follow guidelines to regulate and control the message boards. Right now, the pure number of Med attendees and number of posts is overwhelming, and we would need Med moderators to start moderating the message boards, but especially the NYLF/MED category.

If you will be able to keep a daily watch on the Med category, and moderate topics in your section, feel free to apply. Although there are other moderators, such as myself, that help out in the Med category, we will need the Med moderator(s) to do most of this work in the future, since they understand the NYLF/MED Forum better than us.

The only requirments to apply is to be an NYLF/MED attendee, to stay active on the NYLF Message Boards, to moderate the NYLF/MED category if chosen, and to help the moderators if needed.

If you would like to apply, please send an email to me at nmaier@columbus.rr.com. Please leave the Subject as NYLF/MED Moderator Application. Please include the following in the message:
  • Display Name on the NYLF Message Boards
  • Why you should be chosen as a moderator
  • Other message boards or forums you have administered or moderated (if applicable)

Any questions regarding this may be sent to me by PM, IM using the addresses below. When you are ready to apply, please do so by email using the instructions above.

We hope you will consider applying, and continue to enjoy the NYLF Message Boards.

Good ways to be chosen as a moderator (and good ideas for everyone):
  • Stay active on the message boards even after your NYLF Forum.
  • Post in many forums on the message board, not only in the Med category.
  • Help new attendees with common questions.
  • Start a new thread when one is needed, and continue an old thread when there is already an open topic related to that subject.

Ways not to be chosen:
  • Have a very low post count.
  • Cross post - post the same topic in multiple forums.
  • Post in the wrong forum.
  • Start a new thread about a subject that is currently being discussed in another open topic.
  • Disobey any of the forum guidelines or disobey moderators or staff.
  • Introduce yourself in the Questions for Staff or Alumni sections.
  • Only post in the Med category, not the All NYLF Attendees category.
  • Leave the forum and not post after attending NYLF.
