hi Arina!! ok, euphonium is a brass instrument--it would be between the trombones and tuba if u saw it at a concert--it has three keys just like the trumpet-----its a higher accompniant(spelling) for the tuba---u hold it like a tuba--a mini tuba!! hope it helped-----im so excited for this summer!! i hope its a blast..
wow!! the euphonium sounds pretty interesting...so its sorta like a mini tuba huh?...hmmm, I can picture it in my head!! aaah, where are all the other people who are going D.C. July 17-26...maybe they haven't gotten an acceptance package yet, since ours is the last session for 2005 D.C. ... but yay! I'm excited... and THANK YOU for the explanation of a euphonium... helped me get my instruments straight!

Hey I am Ariel and a 16 yr. old sophmore from northern California. I am looking forward to attending this session in D.C. I got to go there for the first time last year and it is a great city. I am a big theater fan/participant. I love to act, sing, danse, write. Pretty much anything to do withthe arts. I have never really had a good background in medicine but I am looking forward to learning more and exploring career options in that field.

Yup we are all sophomores (so far...hope theres some more juniors so there's a balance...always good to balance things out ... like in chemistry!! sorry, I have chemistry this year, and frankly, chemistry has taken over my life...but I LOVE IT!!! anyways, speaking of the IB student thing, technically I'm one too, but the real thing does not start until next year...in junior year; but yeah...hey Mohamud do you know what your extended essay topic is about yet? at RM (Richard Montgomery, my h.s.) they have to have a topic by junior year...just out of curiosity...but yeah, well, can't wait to meet all of you guys!!

Hey everyone. I am also going to the July 17-26 session in Washington DC. My name is Danielle and I am 17 years old. So that means that I am finishing my junior year (go class of 2006). I was skeptical about this whole NYLF as well, but then I talked to my brother's gf and she went to one about 4 years ago (in Boston) and said it was a good experience.
I am from western Pennsylvania. I am practically on the border and is halfway between Cleveland to Pittsburgh. I like just about everything, I have no particular interests. I play on the girls tennis team, and I am in a few clubs (Students for Charity, Tri-Hi-Y, National Honor Society, Choir, etc.).
Umm, I can't think of anything else to write. So I'll come back later and type something else.
Hey everyone! I'm Jen Frazier and 17 here in Raleigh, NC. I'm into pretty much everything..I play volleyball, basketball, and soccer, as well as take singing lessons and play the piano (I'm not really great at any of them, just ok at them all . I love to snowboard in winter and surf in the summer. I've always wanted to be a vet because I adore animals, but a people doctor would be cool too...so hopefully I'll find something I'm interested in at the forum. Can't wait to meet all ya'll <- had to throw that in since some people think north carolina is "southern." unfortunately, I don't fall into that category. Well email me or sumthing and we'll chat!

^I want to be Veterinarian too! A local Vet's office is hiring students part-time and I am going to work there for some experience. I'm not sure what I will be doing but at least I could get some kind of insight. Are you coming to the Washington session?
Britni our wish came true...our lonely message board isn't so lonely any more... welcome Danielle and Jen!! It's great to have more juniors here -- now there's more of a balance. Can't wait to meet everyone!! Hey you guys know how we have to be well informed about medical issues/breakthroughs/etc...does anyone know any sites which like have online newsletters? because I think rather than checking the website every day, I would rather get a newsletter in my inbox once a week... Any helpful sites are appreciated!!

Hey Danielle, I am going to the session in DC July 17-26! I've been wanting to work at a vet's office for so long...but I only have like 2 free weeks in the summer and don't think anyone will hire me for that amount of time. Arina-I go to msnbc.com everyday and click on the health topic to read about the newest updates in the medical field. Maybe there's some option on the site that will send out emails too.
