I am guessing that every week will have a similar scenario in eastern Congo. If anyone would like to start a network with ideas and/or debates on Africa, i beleive that would be very cool. This is open to all weeks. Governments dont work being seperated, so lets see if we can get some cooperation.

I agree. Though I (admittedly) haven't begun my required reading, here's a place we can swap ideas and ask questions. Good idea. ;3

I suppose this means I'll have to get right on that book list. XD

i think that's a great idea even though i have only lately begun to research info online. so far i know the republic of congo was a colony, and since it was freed, there have been a few changes in power.

Excellent, I'm glad to see several people excited as well. I have an idea on organization. Im willing to bet we will need to go in depth on party vs party issues, so if everyone picked a party and posted some things, leaders, issues, cause, etc. It would be easier if everyone picked a peice of the puzzle and we flushed it out. We of course need the main political parties of congo, but also possibly the Rwandan forces armed by congo known as the "Interhamwe" forces. If you guys find somthing, post it with some links or a description.

Thanks for the tip, Booman004! ^_^ I'll post around some helpful links and information too, when I find some that are applicable.

Heistand, I'll take you up on that offer. Allow me some time to research. X3

EDIT: While browsing today, I came across a helpful CNN web page. I usually like to steer away from both CNN and FOX when it comes to research, but seeing as it's a conglomeration of fact sites, I think it's bipartisan enough. Click Here!

Happy research, all. ^_^

While at U of Maryland this week i found a book on the history of the sudan. Im gonna see what i can find. Anyone got stuff on Joseph KABILA, or his dad, or Mobutu. If we can get like motives, political ties, etc. im sure that could help a lot.
CIA FACT
has some of the regular stuff.
Import and Export partners could be useful. The hardest part will be sorting out each of the paries in congo/surrounding areas.

i found wikipedia really helpful.
i've read that the Rwandan genocide sent alot of refugees to the congo with bad results. i'd recommend seeing "hotel Rwanda",it shows realistically the horrors of genocides, and how the UN has their hands tied in issues like this
