Hey, I've just now found the time to actually look some of this stuff up.. maybe it would be helpful if everyone kinda pitched in and shared with everyone what all you've found out so far or tell us of some good web sites you've found!

FDA has said that marijuana does not help with side effects of fatal diseases such as cancer. But they are not sure if that is just a political statement or one actually based in medicine.

There is a big shortage of nurses and many physicians are refusing to treat certain groups of people because of liability. Medical Malpractice is also a big issue

If you want a good basic medical background, check out the websites on the sheet we got when we first registered; they're kinda cool. A copy of the Merck Medical Manual is helpful; the beginning of that has some interesting stuff on current medical issues (make sure you get the most recent edition). Also, there's a big shortage of child psychologists, and a lot of pharmacists won't fill the "morning-after" pill because they say it goes against their beliefs...stuff to consider.

Don't stress about knowing stuff. Don't feel like you need to go out and buy books or anything like that. Know the basic issues. Izzy D mentioned the controversy over the morning after pill. There's a controversy over abortion, stem cell research, organ transplantation. Don't feel like you need to know in depth stuff. Just know basics about the stuff that's in the news all the time

You can look in the Health section of most magazines(I read the U.S. News) or the Health section in the Tuesday Washington Post.

-Diabetes, and breast cancer is something to look at.

LOL I found it hip hop. I thought maybe there was something else more than that. Thanks. I agree for the morning after for rape victims and all but I don't know if I really support it for other use besides that.

the one controversial argument is, is that some women use it as a way of birth control. i really cna't agree with that use of it because it's just in humane... if a person does something by their own choice (and yes it may be stupid... but they still did it) then i think they should face the consequences. what about everyone else?? ttyl.. Smile

I totally agree with you Gina. People should take responsibility for their actions. If they cannot be safe or don't want a child, they shouldn't be having sex.

There are websites on that pamphlet that says Information For Scholars and Parents or something, the same one that tells you what to wear. Also, just quickly googling any of the things is helpful as well

i think the american obesity rate is a large medical concern that we all should have some knowledge of, its a pretty easy topic to understand, but theres a lot you could discuss over it
