I'm defiently bringin my own pillow. I can't stand to sleep with another pillow. If I don't have it I can't sleep. I guess it feels just to much like home. A fleece throw blanket is a good idea. I need to pack that too. One more thing to add the confusion I call my suitcase! Just Kidding!

The hardest part is always getting it back in your suitcase after the trip! I usually have to sit on mine. My mom always encourages me to fold my dirty clothes when I'm done wearing them so they'll fit back in better, but I'm like...nah...just stuff them in there :-)

She wants to help me pack...but I'm scared...she thinks I'm bringing WAY too much stuff.

I don't think I'm bringing a pillow, but I might bring a small blanket if I have extra space.

Has anyone started actually packing yet?

I'm such a procrastinator that I'll probably start packing Saturday evening. I have sooo much to do before NYLF, and it's only three days away!

Also, what types of outfits is everyone bringing for their professional wear?

I'm kinda sad...I went to get my haircut because it'd be way long if I waited until after Chicago. But I went somewhere cheap and the lady sucked so now my hair looks like crap :-(

I hope some of the people in my dorm room are talented at hair and can attack me and make it look better for the dance!

I started packing today. Its a bigger job than what I thought it would be because I'm trying to get everything in 1 suitcase and a garment bag. Besides my suit I'm not bringing specific professional outfits everything is kind of the same. Some things I couldn't wear for professional.

Sorry about your hair!

Have you seen the weather forecast? Rain and Some Thunderstorms. Frown

Wow! I can't believe we leave in 3 days! I haven't even started packing!
Okay, I know this is really short notice, but my parents were wondering if anyone else is going from NE Wisconsin that would want to carpool with us - just let me know hoffman327@yahoo.com

That sounds like a good idea. I'm kind of worried that I don't have enough professional clothing and I'm going to look kind of messy. Since I know I won't wear that type of clothes again, I bought my outfits second hand, but I couldn't find any suit sets so my skirts and tops don't match. Oh well, hopefully I'll be able to pull something together!

Madeline, I'm sure someone will be able to fix your hair! I've always wanted to learn how to cut hair, but with my current skills, I think I'd just butcher it.

LydiaK,

Someone will definitely be able to help you pull some cute professional outfits together! I'm addicted to the show What Not to Wear on TLC, so I'm kind of learning how to dress nicer and stuff.

I'm bringing four suits, a couple blouses, and a couple suits, and I'm going to mix all of that stuff to get my professional and relaxed professional outfits.

And then I'm bringing two pairs of jeans, two capris, a few shorts, and some t-shirts and tank tops to wear the rest of the time. I don't know how I'll fit all my shoes in my suitcase, though.

My mom gave me an article she got in a magazine about packing...it's all...put your outfits together, wrap your shoes in tissuepaper, wrap the pants around all the shirts and stuff so they get wrinkled...

I was like...wow...I'll probably just fold it nice and stick it in there, ya know?

They keep on changing the weather forecast. When I looked yesterday morning most of the days had thunderstorms, and then in the afternoon it had a few days. So maybe the rain days will only go down to 1 or 2.

Oh yeah...my mom's article ALSO said to make a list of everything you think you'll need to travel for your trip, and then cut it in half and relish in the joys of traveling light.

I was like....yeah right...if I cut my list in half I wouldn't have enough professional outfits to get me through the trip!

I'm going to wear just like...something casual...for the arrival. I may be taking senior pics around Chicago with my parents beforehand, so it depends on what I want to wear in my pictures.

This is gonna rock! Random family members are like giving me money and saying have a good trip...I'm like...sweet, thanks aunt Judy! Love you!

lol.

Just a reminder for anyone who wants to run to bring a note from your parents "relieving NYLF of all responsibilities while you are not with a member of the staff."

See you all tomorrow!

I'm worried...I had to get some last minute shots yesterday, and I'm having a bad reaction to them. 103 degree temp, headache, achy all over...I just kinda laid on my bed and let my mom pack everything for me. I so hope I'll still be able to go tomrrow, though.

This is SCARY because my uncle just got an MMR injection, and he had a bad reaction to it, hurt all over, temp, went to the ER and an hour later was having seizures and couldn't make any sense at all. The shot made his brain swell and he ended up in a coma on a ventilator for awhile...so I REALLY hope I'm not having the same thing he had because that would not be good.

As for packing, I have one kinda big suitcase, one garment bag that actually is a garment "case" it looks like a small suitcase, another fabric garment bag, a backpack full of stuff, my purse, and a pillow.

Good thing my whole family's coming to help get all my stuff to the dorm! If ANYONE needs any help once you get there be sure to find me...or pretty much anyone for that matter...I know I'll definitely be willing to help you guys if your families aren't coming, or whatever.

See ya tomorrow!
