Hi I'm coming from New York.....I can't wait!! I'm very glad that we have air conditioning in our dorms because all the sleepaway camps that I've been to before all didn't have air conditioning. The unfortunate thing is that I'm a swimmer so my sweat glands have been messed up by the clorine and I start becoming a waterfall when the temperature hits 70.............Also I'm very upset that there isn't going to be as many international kids going as I expected..oh well....

You guys can IM me at qingswim1990 (unfortunately I rarely go on) or email me at qingswim@yahoo.com

Are you allowed to leave? I was under the impression you weren't. I don't run, lol. I think we're all going to be really tired from the usual day to day running around so you might want to treasure your sleep. I'm driving in too and trying to get there as early as possible. Qingswim, what nationality are you? I'm third generation Chinese if that helps. What kind of dresses are people wearing for the cruise? Research for me has been mostly reading current events. Someone in the "how much do you know about medicine" thread said that we would have time to research specific topics as opposed to knowing everything beforehand so don't worry! Sorry this was a bit disorganized, I've fallen behind on the new postings!

Hey Chrissy! Ya actually I was born in China then I moved to Alabama when I was 5 then to New Mexico when I was 7 and finally came to New York when I was 11. I don't have any relatives in the U.S. except for my mom and dad.....well and my four cats, gerbil, dead turtle, and dead snail....Where are you from?

I've got my dress. I'm actually going to bring 2 dresses so I have some choice. One of my dresses is a vintage dress with light green backing with gold flowers as a lace overlay. It's strapless and hits just below my knees and is tastefully poofy at the bottom. The other one is white with black polka dots alternating with black lace. They're kinda hard to describe. I can't believe the forum is in 8 days!!!!!!! I still have shopping to do and no time to do it!! Ahhhh! I'm surprised more people haven't posted on here yet... ttyl

Qingswim, that is incredibly awesome. Most of my family outside of my immediate family is still in China too. I'm afraid I don't speak Chinese, though I want to. Do you mean where am I from China or US? Chelsey, do you have a picture of your dress? Does anyone? LOL You have room for 2 dresses?

Hey Chrissy....well I meant in the US but in China is fine also...It really is a shame that you can't speak Chinese. My parents stopped making me speak chinese so I dont know a lot. I can't read chinese characters at all any more...well maybe simple stuff like the numbers and simple words but not anything more difficult....did you see that girl that was from hong kong that was flying to Washington second week? that is seriously awsome I wish she was coming to the first session though then we could meet her....

I don't know if I will bring a dress for the cruise. I don't have one and I def dont have the time or patience to go find one so I think I am going to just wear this really pretty lacy white skirt and a black top. OMG I have to get started packing. THere are alot more things to bring than just clothes. We're going to be in dorms. Hmm lots to think about.

I'm from East Coast and plan to take Chinese as a course in school next year. That's weird your parents made you stop, why? I didn't see that. How would international students find out about this program? I agree, packing involves more than clothes. It involves snacks, tissues, ipods, etc, etc. That's where the room problem comes in... Razz

East Coast? what state? well my parents didn't make me stop they just stopped forcing me to speak chinese and besides there are like no chinese classes on long island. There used to be when I was in New Mexico...oh well....I have no idea how international kids find out the program...

How much is everyone bringing? I think I am only going to bring a big roller and a 20 inch roller. I really don't think I have a lot to pack though...i mean it's not like we need to pack heavy winter clothes or anything...I don't know, I'm packing this weekend

I still need a dress for the cruise too... I don't know if I'll get one or just rummage up something from the ones I have.. or my friends have Big Grin

I'm bringing like a duffel bag and a roller.... I wanted to bring this huge trunk thing I have but we're driving up Em too and well I have four siblings and one of them is going to camp the next day so it's Em's stuff, my stuff, my brother's stuff for camp and then the remaining two siblings and my parent's stuff because they're spending a few nights by Frostburg where they are dropping my brother off.

That was long... Confused lol.

Your driving me up? Love how my parents tell me these things.... lol. You know how I pack too, if I'm going somewhere for a week I bring enough crap for at least 2 lol, I ALWAYS over pack. Ok, yall were asking about dresses, this is what mine looks like- dress
it has whitish stripes and then I've got these like 4 inch black heels with a pointy toe that I think I'm gonna wear. I figure I'll probably take them off after the first 5 minutes anyway lol

Courtney, don't worry! I'm anxious too! I am excited about the experience, party stuff, new people. It's like everyday stuff like showering in dorms, dorms, roommates, enough sleep, food, self-dependancy lol. I think that once we get there, after the first day, we'll love it. You're not alone though! I am totally like "I'm so excited" then "I don't want to go!" But I hear everyone loves it. Thanks for the pic too Em! Anyone else have one? I've narrowed myself down to two dresses.
