My dream colleges are Stanford, Macalester, and Bryn Mawr. Med school hasn't planned itself out yet for me (maybe Columbia?), though I'm thinking I'll study internal medicine, with a specialty in infectious diseases. In college, I will study another language, probably Arabic. As soon as I complete my residency and get my license, I'm leaving the country to go where I'm needed, probably Africa.

I have been going back and forth between heart surgeon and a pediatric oncologist. Right now I am more interested in pediatric oncologist. I have time to decide. I graduate in the spring of 2010. I want to go to college somewhere down south but I am not totally sure yet. Matt Rollins: We want to be the same kind of doctor. What makes you want to become a pediatric oncologist? Which session are you going to?

KaitlynVictoria: I have a actually been a cancer patient at UNC-Chapel Hill and my oncologist was absolutely amazing. I was diagnosed when I was 12 and took treatments for 6 months. Spending that much time in the hospital would turn most people away but i realized i wanted to help the people who were affected by cancer. Ironically I ahve always been a Duke fan but i decided i want to go to med school at chapel hill.

Matt Rollins: I am so sorry, that must be hard to go through. But that is great that you want to work with oncology after everything you went through. I don't want to pry but what kind of cancer do/did you have? Are you in remission? When I tell someone that I want to be a pediatric oncologist they look and me and say "why? that is going to be so hard" but I think the job will be sad at times but also very rewarding. Someone has to do it, you know? I love children and and helping people so I think it is the right fit for me. I see you live in north carolina .. you are so lucky .. i want to live down south so bad. I have a beach house in myrtle beach, sc and i love it there. I love the ocean, the weather, and just how beautiful the south is. Do you like living down south? How old are you? Do you have an email address because it might be easier to talk through email. ttyl. Kait

It'sfine if you ask about it. I had Burkitt's Lymphoma and I have been in remission since February of 2005. I am fifteen years old and have lived in the small town of Asheboro for all of my life. The weather down here is rather mild all year round. My e-mail is dukedude83@yahoo.com. Feel free to e-mail me anytime.
