I know that it is like 6 months away, even 7 for some. But I was wondering if everyone had a basic idea on how they were going to travel? driving? plain? train? bus? other?

I will be flying out a few days in advance because I have family in the city where I'm going. But to get to the campus a family member will drive me there...my grandpa (very interesting, random, fact: he helped remodel the UIC campus, where I will be staying.) And then after the 10 days I will stay a week and a half and then I will fly back home.

What about everyone else??

Thats cool! I've traveled without my parents with my brother and my sister, but this also will be my 1st time by myslef. (well, I guess my 2nd prob. by then, I'm going to cali for spring break as a b-day present). Have you bought your tickets yet? I havn't. As sad as this sounds, I will be asking for plane tickets for my b-day since I already have a car...

Have you ever flown before?

im going to be flying out to DC, and then relatives that live there will be picking me up at the airport and drop me at the conference, and vice versa. my parents think it'll be "safer" and plus, i want to see them too anyway so it works out. we haven't bought my tickets yet either. i think my dad's going to take care of that in a few days actually. i have no problem with flying alone, i've been on so many days long international flights, that going on one that's only like an hour and a half long appeals to me so much!

I live like 15-30 minutes away from Georgetown University, so my dad will be driving me there. My parents want me to be "close" to home.

Well, being close to home shouldn't be too bad. It'll be quicker for your family to come incase of an emergency. I'm about 6-7 hours away from Washington, D.C. but I'm not going to be flying. My dad is going to drive me up there and pick me up. It's far, but he knows the way.

I'm going to fly into Boston from SFO; fun fun, the flight is like six hours! Then I guess I'm going to hop on the (somewhat overpriced?) forum van. After, I'm going to take the train down to Philadelphia (another six hours, oye!) My sister and I are going to drive to our family's house on the Jersey shore, and after a weekend I'm going to fly back to the city. Blech, I have yet to make my flight reservations, but something tells me I'm going to have two very, very long flights ahead of me.

i live right in the suburbs of chicago so my parents will just drop me off so it's pretty easy.

but alex, im not sure but you could definitely call the NYLF office and see the times that the shuttles are for the last day. i think they might actually have been in the folder that was sent in the mail for it under the "transportation" paper thing. i hope that helps!

Alex: In my acceptance packet it said that shuttles started at noon and then kept going until five. I am going to Atlanta so I am not sure if it is the same for you or not.

I'm flying from SLC to BWI but I have to go through Atlanta and then my return flight is crazy. I fly from BWI to Atlanta to Fort Worth to Las Vegas then to SLC again and I get in at like 3 in the morning but whatever. I like flying and my parents would rather have me on plane instead of hanging out at the airport for several hours so it's ok. What do you guys do when you are bored at an airport? I like to look around and people watch. I think it's kind of funny to see how stressed out people get about missing a flight or whatever but I know I would be stressed if I got stranded by myself.

Alex: I'm going to D.C. too and my packet said the earliest flight the shuttles can get you to is at 1:00. Hope it helps.
