Hi, I'm attending the first session in Chicago. Anyways, today I received an invitaion from the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference inviting me to attend the inauguration of the new president as well as many other activities. In the letter, it said that participants were chosen from attending certain prestigious programs, such as NYLF-MED, but only certain students were chosen. I was wondering if anyone else received this letter??

I know! It is expensive. I checked out the website and it was around $2300. I'm pretty sure that i am going, but i will probably have to take some of my own spending money!

I got one too. I agree that the forum is/would be more interesting, plus it would depend on who's even being inaugurated!

Hey guys! Yep I got the invitation as well! I am totally siked! I mean the inauguration of our country's new president and vice is a HUGE deal! And the black tie gala inaugural ball....so amazing! But I love getting dressed up and everythingSmile but hey guys, if you didnt know, if you go on the website, there is message boards on there for people going...so check that out if you are interestedWink And I'm pretty sure Im going, I raised all the money to go to the forum this summer through sponsorships, the only part of it that came out of my pocket is the spending money part of it. So I'm planning on doing the same thing or some other type of fundraising activity to raise this money. And the dress is gonna be another payment I'm gonna have to figure out on top of all the other costs. Plus I live in the Phoneix area, so airline will be a little spendy but it'll be all worth it I know!Smile

I got one too, but I am not going. It's kind of a money-making scam. No offense to anyone who is going.

tannah15- seriously? less then 1 percent...I'm wondering what they base there selecting off of ya know? like why us? whats the difference between us and the rest of the kids that are attending nylf forums and didn't get invited?

ya, i know, thats what i thought. my mom asked what the criteria was, you know, and he didnt say! he just said alumni of nylf or this other program. but idk about the 1 percent thing..it seems like a lot of kids are getting an invitation!

I got an invitation too. I'd like to go but it cost alot.
Maybe part of the reason only certain people get picked has to do with where they live.
