it doesn't say anything about having to wear a blazer AT ALL TIMES. yes wearing a blazer with a non-professional shirt will make it professional attire but no where ever does it say you must have a blazer even if you are wearing dress pants and a blouse.

anyone who thinks that they absolutely HAVE to have a blazer with every single thing they wear is dumb. seriously... you guys don't get what commas mean.

I was thinking about getting a blazer, but then I changed my mind because I realized that it would probably get hot walking everywhere. I went shopping today, actually, and got a bunch of blouses, and two pairs of dress pants. I'm bringing heels and flats, but definitely some casual wear too. Mine is professional, but still fun. I hate boring haha

no one needs to get upset about the whole blazer issue I don't know why some people are getting smart about it, but in my opinion a blazer doesn't make an outfit professional just look like you know what your doing! lol
I went shopping the other day also and bought the CUTEST clothes I might actually look professional the whole time!
And it's not like they're going to make us go home if we don't wear blazers we're all hundreds of miles away from home and we've all paid a good bit of money to go to this thing just wear what you think is professional!

the dress i'm bringing isn't entirely formal, but its comfortable and still nice enough. I got it for a sweet 16, if that helps. its blue, yellow, and black and is probably about knee-length

anyone know of any good places to get cute springy dresses for the dance that aren't like over $35?

and what shoes are you all wearing to the dance? i've never really been to a real dance before (except for the valentine's day dance in 6th grade - lol) so i'm not so great with stuff like that. haha, thanks!

less formal than a prom dress, but not a sundress either. oh i'm wearing pumps...but then again i love high heels, so if you don't normally wear them, bring flats. and flip flops haha
oh and target/marshalls/claires/h&m have really cute dresses that are on sale alot of the time

I talked to my two friends who went to Washington D.C. last year and they said the one thing they wish they brought was open toed shoes or nice sandals because they only had to wear the entirely closed ones on site visits. they also said they wore dress shorts a lot.

My dress is strapless like a cocktail dress... it's a bubble dress and super cute.

as far as shoes goes, I have high heels and flats. I am a high heel wearing kind of girl though so that's me. =]

I'm glad other people aren't wearing blazers with slacks... a nice button-up dress shirt should be just fine- perfectly professional. That's what I'm doing at least. And for dresses- I'm wearing a purple, halter bubble dress. Does anyone know if we need a few nice outfits for dinners or anything other than hospital visits?

Yeah I bought like three cute jackets that arent really blazers cuz they have cute short sleeves and they're fun but they match the pants that I'm wearing and I figure they won't be nearly as hot...

Dresses for the last day: so the info says that for professional we can't have spaghetti straps, etc. but I'm assuming this doesn't apply to the dance? If so I'm wearing a really deep blue dress with spaghetti straps that falls just above my knees with silver heels.

I'm pretty sure those rules don't apply. Hopefully not, since the dress I'm bringing is strapless!
