Most of you guys seem to be very well rounded, I am not quite. I like to play golf and stay active, I am not very musically inclined, neither am I an avid artist, but like I said before, I do enjoy taking pictures. Here is a link to some of my work if you are interested:Pics Matt Rollins NYLF-MED 2008 D.C. Session One |

Gaucher disease: A series of 5 diseases due to deficient activity of the enzyme glucocerebrosidase, leading to accumulation of glucocerebroside in tissues of the body. The 5 types of Gaucher disease encompass a continuum of clinical findings from a lethal form before or just after birth to a form so mild that it may not be diagnosed until old age. All 5 types of Gaucher disease are inherited in an autosomal recessive manner
Matt: those pics are wonderful! Better then what I could ever do! I dont have the talent for photography, though acording to my grandfather I do have an eye for it. As for you not being an "avid artist", last time I checked photography is an art. |

Emphysema- n. a lung disease involving the breakdown of alveoli, reducing area available for gas exchange
Matt- Your photography is amazing! And you seem a lot more well-rounded than me. I don't do any competitive sports (I've been dancing for most of my life, though, and I cheerlead) and I am not artistic at all! Love your quote, by the way. Cassie- Same with me! I always see things that make me think, "Wow, I wish I could capture this image. It would make a perfect picture." Of course, it never turns out like I envision it! ---------- XoX Boston MED Session 3, 2008 xOx my blog-> http://forums.studentdoctor.net/blog.php?u=188514 |

Zolmitriptan: A triptan drug for the treatment of migraines. Marketed under the brand name Zomig.
wow, andy, u like hospital food? that must mean the hospitals you've been to have some pretty good food! all the ones i've been to have food that's worse than the most stereotypical school lunch... my cousin had to get a skin graft back when she's in 10th grade. she was on a motorbike with her brother back in india, and they had some sort of accident with a bus. the bike ended up running over her left foot, and the doctors considered actually amputating it at the ankle, but decided on a skin graft using skin from her thigh. since it was in india, and quite a few years ago, her foot's pretty gross looking coz they didnt do that great of a job with it. ~*~*~ Prathima ~*~*~ Medicine, Washington D.C June 15th - June 24th '08 |

Nelaton's catheter- A flexible catheter (A tubular surgical instrument for withdrawing fluids from or introducing fluids into a cavity of the body) of red rubber
Prathima, I think I read somewhere on the message boards that you wanted to go to medical school in India. So it seems like you must be pretty well-informed about the health care issues there, and I'd be very interested in hearing your opinions about them and how they can be resolved. One recommendation about hospital food- avoid the cafeteria. While some, I'm sure, are perfectly fine, most hospitals with have a privately owned restuarant. I would bet money that that restuarant is Au Bon Pain, which is in both of the hospitals that I volunteer and almost every other hospital I've been to. I gues it's OK. The problem is the food looks really good, but it has almost no flavor whatsoever. ---------- XoX Boston MED Session 3, 2008 xOx my blog-> http://forums.studentdoctor.net/blog.php?u=188514 |

Hmm... From what they posted in the "some interesting things about ourselves" thread, I know that Megan Corey loves sports, especially tennis, and that Sophia is from Canada (I think?). And I can't think of anything interesting about myself at the moment. I promise I'll get back to you on that! ---------- XoX Boston MED Session 3, 2008 xOx my blog-> http://forums.studentdoctor.net/blog.php?u=188514 |

One interesting fact about me is I have always wanted to be a doctor since 3rd grade. I even studied the human body for a year or two. I want to either be an ER physician, Psychologist, Pathologist, Pharmacist or Infectious disease. Listen to the words of music, they can surly rock out and speak to you! Especially Randy Rhoads! |

medicinenet.com One cool fact about me is that I have been playing the guitar for three years and can play all the rock anthems including "Crazy Train" and "Rock and Roll all Night". I can play everything from AC/DC's "Back in Black" to Metallica and Iron Maiden. Listen to the words of music, they can surly rock out and speak to you! Especially Randy Rhoads! |

I could do "N" but I will choose "F", more options. Anyways my term is:
Fibrosarcoma- cancer of the bones. A cool factoid about me is, well not a fact more like a pet peeve. I hate TV ads. The show is quit and up at full volume because you can't hear it and then the commercials and the TV is ready to explode. Bothers the heck out of me. Matt, awesome pictures, by the way! Hey Matt, what field of Medicine do you want to enter? I want to either be a Orthopedic Surgeon, ENT, or Trauma Room doctor. Maybe, if I push myself through the work, maybe a Cardiologist. Listen to the words of music, they can surly rock out and speak to you! Especially Randy Rhoads! |

A-Abdominal muscle deficiency syndrome: Partial or complete absence of the abdominal muscles so that the outlines of the intestines are visible through the thin, lax, protruding abdominal wall. Also called the "prune belly syndrome."
I have a couple of things to say about other people's facts. I can't play guitar. I play guitar hero, which I am pretty good at, but not the real thing. Also, I hate hospital food. I had cancer and had to stay in the hospital for like 6 months off and on, so you kind of get sick of it after a while. To Brent: I want to be a pediatric oncologist, for obvious reasons. Interesting fact? Well, I have a surgery techniques text book from the late 19th century. It's amazing, I read it all the time... Hippocrates and I are pretty tight... |
