Serotonin syndrome is a rare, but potentially life-threatening adverse drug reaction that results from intentional self-poisoning, therapeutic drug use, inadvertent interactions between drugs, or the recreational use of certain drugs. It is an iatrogenic (i.e. caused by medical treatment) toxidrome (from toxic + syndrome). It is most commonly referred to as serotonin syndrome, but the terms serotonin toxicity or serotonin toxidrome are more accurate as they reflect the fact that it is a form of poisoning.Rarely it may also be called serotonin storm.

Serotonin syndrome: Serotonin Syndrome is not a spontaneous drug reaction; it is a consequence of excess serotonergic activity at central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral serotonin receptors. This excess serotonin activity produces a specific spectrum of clinical findings which may range from barely perceptible to fatal.

To tatapalooza where are you from?

[B]Eicosapentaenoic acid[/B: One of the principal omega-3 fatty acids. Abbreviated EPA. The body has a limited ability to manufacture EPA by converting the essential fatty acid, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) which is found in flaxseed oil, canola oil or walnuts.

Diphtheria: - this is an acute respiratory infection caused by inhalation of airborne droplets of the bacteria Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Some symptoms are sore throat, fever, and swollen neck glands. It can block your airway, and cause many problems with the heart, skin, and central nervous systems. It can lead to shock and even death. Most people get the diphtheria vaccine as babies, though, along with the Tetanus and Pertussis vaccines.

Fact: I got my first diphtheria vaccine when I was about 2 months old, and had 4 others after.

Anemia: The condition of having less than the normal number of red blood cells or less than the normal quantity of hemoglobin in the blood. The oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood is, therefore, decreased.
Persons with anemia may feel tired and fatigue easily, appear pale, develop palpitations and become unusually short of breath. Children with chronic anemia are prone to infections and learning problems.

I have anemia its not fun.

Let's just mix it up a bit...

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) - Noun. No definition needed.
this literally just popped into my head.

btw, pmalik93, I believe it's pronounced ah-dreen-oh-loo-koh-diss-tro-fee. If that helps.

And I forgot to put something about myself on the last one, so here goes. I wanted to be a neurosurgeon, but I watched heart surgery today and it was so cool so I'm considering doing cardiothoracic instead. But I like the brain so I'm not sure.
I like to sing. I like to read, too. I don't do whole lot else. I think I may be boring. Smile

Nasal septum deviation: Failure of the nasal septum to be in the midline where it is supposed to be. (The nasal septum is the wall inside the nose that runs down the middle dividing it into two sides.)

Deviation of the nasal septum may be congenital (present at birth) or occur later from trauma. The major problem that it tends to cause is airway obstruction. Correction is by surgery.

The "deviation" of the nasal septum is from its normal position. It is a deviant septum.

i thought of this when hannah montana came on because of that one girl!

Nephroblastomatosis: The presence of multiple embryonic rests of tissue within the kidney. These nephrogenic rests usually are benign but they may give rise to Wilms tumor. Chemotherapy has been advocated if the rests are growing or if a child becomes symptomatic to decrease the risk of development of Wilms tumor.

Scurvy: A deficiency disease resulting from not getting enough vitamin C. Since vitamin C helps to correctly produce collagen, less of it means not enough collagen (the main protein in our connective tissue). Symptoms include spongy and bleeding gums, opening of old wounds, paleness, nosebleeds, feelings of depression, and dark spots on the skin (especially on the legs). It could even cause loss of teeth, and it's usually deadly if untreated.

JeriLynn - Sorry I didn't reply earlier but yes, I think I do like GA better. It's quieter and the people are nicer, though I still miss NY. Smile

Kyphoplasty: is a medical procedure developed by orthopedist Mark A. Reiley, MD, where the original height and angle of kyphosis of a fractured vertebra (of certain types) are restored, followed by its stabilization using injected bone filler material. The procedure is commonly done percutaneously. Height and angle restoration are currently carried out by using either hydraulic or mechanical intravertebral expansion.
Kyphoplasty is designed to stop the pain caused by the bone fracture, to stabilize the bone, and to restore some or all of the lost vertebral body height due to the compression fracture.
The procedure can be performed under either local or general anesthesia, on multiple levels, out-patient or in-patient, and is viewed as minimally invasive. It is most commonly performed for spinal compression fractures caused by osteoporosis, a condition that weakens the bone, and is also sometimes performed for certain other conditions that may have led to a spinal fracture.
The procedure is often carried out under fluoroscopy as an interventional radiographic procedure. It is most commonly done within eight weeks of when the fracture occurs.
