Hey as an "introduction" here for everybody going this week, besides just telling your name and where you are from, just write a short thing about who you are, and what you're all about so we can get to know eachother a little bit. I'll start here...My name is obviously Andy as I previously said, and I live in Pennsylvania. I'm 16 and going to be a Junior, and I'm a somewhat moderate republican. I play in a band, and I have ambitions of attending the Naval Academy. That's a brief statement of myself, so tell us all a little about yourselves.....

Well, my name is Nathan, I live in North Jersey, I am 16 and I will be a junior next year. I play baseball for my school, and am a fairly liberal democrat (pro-choice etc.) I have ambitions of working in diplomatic fields, and I would love to attend Bowdoin College in Maine.

Sounds like we've got at least a couple interesting people here...but to answer your question how I was nominated, the invitation told me it was a combination of a teacher recommendation, as well as information from collegeboard.com. I was...somewhat suprised, but also extremely excited. David you said you're a drummer...thats awesome, I sing in a band...but our drummer just recently quit, so we're kind of on haitus for now...disappointing...but good to hear from you all, keep posting.

The letter they sent my parents sais that and i quote "...first became aware of your child through the Student Search Service sponsered by the College Board." That means what they did a serch and my name came up? I schuld contact the admissions board and ask. Im glad to see i wasnt the only person who was suprised about this. And it seams we have many diffrent political views here. Just out of curisoty does any one here support the green party(im not saying i do its just a question)? Oh and is any one going to make a press release?

Being a Socialist, I do prefer the Green Party over the two major parties. I agree with most of what Ralph Nader says.

Hey everyone,
Nice to see that people are posting. Again, my name is Kait and I live in Connecticut. I am 17 and going to be a senior in the fall. So I'll be in the midst of all that crazy college application stuff during the conference. I would definitely call myself a liberal democrat...pro-choice and all that. As to how I got nominated I attended a conference something like this last summer so I guess they got my name that way. Hmmm as to something about myself...I find music a good form of self expression. I like all sorts of music, but some of the things I listen to currently are bands like the killers, snow patrol, death cab for cutie, the postal service, and so on.

P.S. Are there any girls going to this session? Ha ha

Wrong. I lived in Glen Rock, Bergen County for 2 years and there is a majority of republicans there.

If you are correct, then you are basically saying that people closer to civilization are democrats, and people in more rural/farming areas are more republican. That sounds about right.

True, My dad lived in Glen Rock and they had a republican Representative for about 20 years. But, where I live, Essex County (North Jersey, close to Newark) is seventy percent Dems, and south Jersey is a reliable Democratic spot in many places

Yeh but i live in ocean county theres some "hicks" around but not many. They tend to just call the area i live in monmout/ocean. Thats the jersey shore. The pinnacle of N.J. tourisim. I live 5 minuites from the board walk during the winter. During the summer it can take hours with all the trafic. Like sea side has a population of somthing like 300 during the winter during the summer its more like 4,000. So theres no farms where i live not on the shore but you go just south theres Atlantic City Just north you are heading into north jersey. But you go out far to the west its rural and far to the south below A/C you got rural. But the jersey shore is its own clasification.

No my parents don't, but I have a cousin in the Marines who has to move. I'm sure being in a military family in general, you expect to be moved a lot. Moving isn't all bad though, I moved from Colorado to the suburbs of Philly about five years ago, and it was one of the best things that happened to me....but good luck with that.
