Holy buckets, eva! That's a lot of science classes and a lot of honors classes! Is your school for the academically gifted or are all those courses just offered? How big is your school?
Still not ready for the conference. Shopping this week.

*sheepish chuckle* haha, kate, trust me, i wouldn't VOLUNTARILY take 4 sciences classes this yr if it weren't a graduation requirement! (it gets worse - next yr begins WEEKLY research mentorships w/ scientists from various institutions. i think i'll choose either u of chicago or northwestern.) after all, i go to the illinois mathematics and SCIENCE academy. all classes are college preparatory. given its selective admissions process and the fact that it's only a 3-yr school (grades 10-12), the student population is small, only 650 kids.
that was a big change for me cuz i came from the 3rd largest city in illinois, where the population is constantly growing. a fifth high school will be built soon. this yr, my home high school graduated over 900 kids, its senior class alone! it's all a matter of perspective, tho - at the academy, i have friends from tiny farm towns, and they think that our school is already huge!
so, what about u, kate? where are u from and what high school do u attend?

Got my immunizations done. I think that the original packet of info said that if you fly you meet the shuttle at terminal 2. You might want to double check that though.
I'm from Rochester, MN and attend at private Catholic high school in the downtown area called Lourdes. I guess you could say it's selective b/c you have to pay $6,000 a yr. tuition, but we still get rich kid jerks. My school is college prep too, but b/c it's private and only has 550 kids we don't have the funding for many honors and AP teachers. It's getting better though. They're considering more AP courses. I like it though. It's very accredited in the music department which is a big part of my life.

Are we supposed to research specific things? I thought we were just supposed to keep up with the news. I've been doing Google News on Health and Medgadget.
Since I go to a private school I can suggest a few places. Ann Taylor Loft is good. You could try Old Navy and Kohls, but I don't have much luck there. If you're looking at dresses try a Dress Barn or Marshall Fields. Talbots is good if you can afford it. Try checking online for clothes before you go to all the different stores to see if they have stuff. It also helps to go with a friend, especially if you're bringing a picky mom.

whoa, i thought checking this message board ONCE every day would suffice. guess not - so many new posts to read!
haha, thanx, sydney! kate, i actually went to a christian school for pre-school and kindergarden before moving to naperville and a public school system. don't remember too much about it, except for strict headmistresses and memorizing bible verses, haha. there's this private catholic high school that sounds exactly like yours just a few minutes from my house. some of my buds from jr. high went there, including the bf of my neighbor. according to her, the girls there were spoiled brats (aka "rich kid jerks" like u said) oh, and near the academy, there's a couple more. the well-known ones are the "brother and sister" schools. one's all-girl catholic and the other all-boy. the boy's school is beastly at any sport imaginable, so the nearby high schools are always scared to compete against them in meets. i had a close friend go there. i swear, he could seriously make the olympics in swimming one day.
what instruments do u play, kate? i've played piano since age 4 and viola since orchestra started in 4th gr. (ooh, lucky number 4!) haha, everyone asks me why i chose viola instead of the more common violin, and i still can't come up w/ a good answer. i guess i just wanted to be different. (oh geez, that sounded lame!) now i would love to learn how to play the flute. even better, the HARP. but that'd cost a fortune!

I know someone who plays the harp and that would be so awesome! I play a lot of different instruments. I played piano for 2 years, trombone for 2 yrs., percussion, mellophone, and french horn. I mainly do mellophone, and french horn with tenors in the winter, but I still remember how to play the others.
Hi Liz! Welcome! Tell us about yourself: classes, instruments, hobbies, sports, field interested in medicine, or just what's up!

Haha alright. I'm 16, I'll be a junior, and i'll be taking Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Pre-Calculus, English 3, a couple religion courses (I go to a Catholic school), Spanish 3, and either Art 1 or Ceramics 1. I was in band through 8th grade, and played trombone. I have been on the varsity tennis team since Freshman year, and also play baseball and golf, and I used to play football and basketball. I am currently one-eyed, as of yesterday, I was hit in the eye playing baseball. It's swollen shut today.. I'm looking to go into either pharmacy or radiology, but I'm still looking around at other fields. Thats about it.

umm Milford is right next to Brighton and Novi and is about 40 min from Detriot. Its a really small town so i'm not surprised u have not herd about it, the only reason i can think were any one might have her about it was the FBI was digging for Jimmy Hoffa like 5 min from my house. the classes i'm taking next year are adv chemistry 2, Physics 1, AP Lang and Comp, Spanish 3, World Histroy, Pre-Calc and Trig. unfortunably i'm not talented enough to play an instrument . My sports are volleyball and thats pretty much all i play bc its a year round sport for me. and i used to run cross country but the sport seasons changed here in MI so now i cant any more. The fields i'm thinking about are psychosocial oncology and although this does not have much to do with medicine i wouold like to by a forensic pathologist which you would still have to go to med school for. Can't wait to meet every one !!!
