Hello. I felt that the division created here on NYLF was sad, so I decided to do something about it. Anyways, this is for everyone, just to get acquanted with others who share the same interests. When you post, state your first name, gender, which session you're going to, where you live, hobbies, etc.

My name is Megan, and I'm a girl...case you couldn't tell. I'll be attending the second session of San Fran. I live in Reno, NV...no, there are no drive-up weddings anymore, contrary to popular belief. I enjoy reading, videogames, learning, talking to friends online, and making things out of wood.

Glad to know other people thought this was a good idea...I did. I am going to be 16 in 16 days, and as of today, I've completed my sophmore year of highschool.

I also enjoy music, have been playing the piano for 11 years, and I'm teaching myself the flute now. I'm not much of a fan of traveling...I love just staying home.

Mike- what is 'training MMA?

Danielle- what all do you do in 'Best Buddies'?

Marie- if you could travel anywhere, where would it be? Oh, and the news can be a hobby, depending on how often you watch it.

MMA is an acronym for Mixed Martial Arts. If you've ever watched UFC or PrideFC, that's the sport. MMA isn't limited to those two organizations though.

Welcome Tracy..and, good observation!! What sports do all of you like to play? I enjoy pretty much anything, except cheerleading and badmitton....yeah.

Mixed Martial Arts, eh, Mike? How long have you been doing it? And, no, I don't really watch fighting...at all, really.

And...Tracy. What all do you like to write, poetry or pros? I prefer to write in pros, but, I'm not the best. What's your favorite videogame?

Best Buddies is a program set up in middle and high schools throughout the nation were students become "buddies" with a mentally handicapped student. Most mentally handicapped students are unable to get out and do things like an average teenager, so this program gives them a friend to talk to, and allows them to be more of an average teenager. There is also a Best Buddies adult program for adults with mental handicaps. It's an amazing program, and I encourage anyone to get involved if they have a chapter at their school.

Anyways, I enjoy playing basketball, football, soccer, hockey, mountain climbing, biking, and this is defiantly a stretch but marching band (yes I am a major band nerd)Roll Eyes

I know I've already asked some of you this, but what is everyone’s interest in the medical field and why?

I like to write poetry, original fiction, and fanfiction. Haha well I have a lot of favorite video games but I guess some of them would be Sonic Adventure, Soul Caliber, Crazy Taxi, and Lunar: the silver star story. I really like Sega games (I have two older brothers who loved playing video games, so growing up I played a lot with them).

I think I want to be either a nutritionist or a pediatrician. My reasons...well, I am really fascinated by the human body and how it functions, and I want learn more about it so I can help other people!

On a side note-- Megan, I LOVE your icon!!

Cooking has been something I've wanted to learn. Unfortunately, the only cooking I have done involves the George Foreman Grill and Food Network.

Good Idea!

  • Name: HR
  • Gender: Male
  • Session: MED / Galveston-Houston / 2nd
  • Live in: Texas
  • Hobbies/Likes: researching animals (particularly dogs), volunteering, listening to oldies as I am right now (60s-70s), swimming, sciences (especially Biology/Chemistry), medicine, Boy Scouting, cold weather, piano, trying new stuff, watching TV,
  • Dislikes: homework, LONG summer reading, physics, chores, hypocrits, "super-mega-extremists" in any party (ie: Democrats, Republicans, Third-Party, Green Party, etc.), most sports (sry guys/gals), thick socks, warm weather, my stupid glasses, my cellphone (it's a brick),
  • Future Career: Cardiovascular Surgeon
  • Colleges of Choice: Rice University (Houston, TX) or Johns Hopkins Medical School (preferred -- in Baltimore, MD)

Megan B. - And, as there are no more drive-up marriages in Reno, I am, contrary to popular belief, not a cowboy! ...lol.

kmac222...martial arts, eh? I used to be in karate, but couldn't fit in into my schedule...one of few sports I enjoy.

mbdancer- the news is AWESOME...I also enjoy comedy news shows...do you?

starry_night- fencing is awesome to watch (I have a friend who fences) but I could never actually fence.

Haha...thank you..I couldn't resist the dancing penguins.

Tracy- I love writing in pros...I cannot, under any circumstances, rhyme, therefore, poetry is out for me. I also grew up with older brothers. I really enjoy Kingdom Hearts (yeah, I know, really popular, what else is new..just can't resist goofy...), Baten Kaitos Origins, Lego Starwars, Paper Mario (to the nintendo 64...gamecube one is just weird..), and many others I am forgetting.

I want to be a biomedical researcher, specializing in microbiology. I love infectious diseases...the fact that we can't do anything about them...fascinating.

Amanda- I also love to cook, though I don't ever get an opportunity. *sighs* For shame, I know. I'm not so much into dancing, but I applaud people who can. I'm more of a sports person.

Danielle- Ha...little out of order...my bad. That program sounds fun...and, I think I put my answer in with...Tracy...hahahahaha..I'm fried. Anyways, I love your inspirational thoughts. Do you change them every time you post?

Sarah- Hiyah...welcome to the thread. I don't have a myspace, sorry...heheh.

HR- That really your full first name, or initials? I love some 70's music...pretty good stuff. If you could hook me up with some good groups, it would be loved. My favorite classes, I must admit, are Biology, Chemistry, and all Math excepting Geometry...something about prisms..I dunno. Yay! A piano player and a Boyscout!!! How close are you to eagle? My brothers and my dad got theirs, and a friend of mine just got his.

I also dislike extremists...drive me crazy. Wow...cardiovascular surgeon...I could never do that...sounds fun, though. I toyed with Medical Examiner for a while...I dunno...morgues would get to me, I think. Don't you hate stereotypes, or generalizations, or mere thoughts? They anger me..a lot.

Okays...think that's all...nope. I've always wanted to learn fencing and martial arts...not enough time, though, for shame. Ok...I might periodically insert a picture, so do not worry...haha. I greatly enjoy the internet...

Yay, another Megan. It's not that I dislike it, I just can't stand to do it. I used to do the little camps for cheerleading, but, I dunno...never got into it...not that type of person.

Welcome Amanda, Sarah, HR, and Megan!

Megan B.-I want to do infectious diseases too! Think of all the people one could help if a cure to a devastating disease were found. I've also been looking into possibly doing work in Africa with an organization like "Doctor's Without Borders". I'm not quite sure right now. As for my inspiration thoughts, well thank you, I have a signature set up with that quote, so it is automatically put in at the end of each post. I am, however, a quote-a-holic. Here are a couple of my favorites.

"Happiness in that state of conscienceless which proceeds from the achievement of one's values."

"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music. "

"No man is an island..."(this one is too long to post, but worth googling)

"Achieving life is not the equivalent of avoiding death."

"Plan ahead: it wasn't raining when Noah built the ark."

HR- I love oldies too! I'm a huge Beatles fan, how about you? Also, how long have you been playing piano, I have always wanted to learn. Finally, why do you like to research dogs in particular?
