No, you can fly in whatever you want, but you will be expected to look nice for the keynote speaker and activities that night.

basically you get to the airport, find the nylf people, get on a bus, go to the hotel or wherever it is, register and get your group information, chill until dinner, change, listen to your keynote speaker, have a group meeting, and go to sleep. thats what it was like at the last one i went to, and im guessing its the same kind of thing.

from the packet they sent me it sounds like our day will be pretty packed. i looked at a past itinerary and it had people getting up at like 6:30-7:00 and not going to bed until 10:30-11:00

Hello, everyone!! My name's Elise and I'm a freshman. I'm so excited to be going to the forum this year. I'm a Jersey girl, I think I saw another Jersey person a few pages back. I can't believe it's only a couple weeks away. Does anyone know how many people are attending this year?

EDIT--I also have a facebook and I've joined the regular NYLF group. Someone should start a group for our forum.

the days are crazy packed. on the bus many times i would get on, fall asleep, and wake up when we got back to the 4-h center which was where we were staying. you're going to be falling asleep everywhere, at lectures, group meetings, etc. its pretty amusing, but gets annoying how tired you get.

at the last nylf i went to, and at the nylc i went to, there were about 350 people there, so im guessing something around that number.

Hey Elise. I'm Katherine and I'm from Monmouth County in New Jersey. Where do you live?

Oh yeah, and I ordered a shirt and a bag tag. Is anyone else driving there besides me?

Katherine

Hey, Katherine!! I live in Morris County, out in the middle of nowhere. Farms and horses and cows everywhere. I'm also driving down to the forum. However, we're leaving a day earlier because we know people in the DC area and it wouldn't make sense to have to leave here at around 4 in the morning the day the forum starts.

Does anyone know if we can buy the shirts and stuff there??

Yeah, I'm leaving on the Sunday before, I think, because my aunt lives in Baltimore. What school do you go to?

also flying on the 24th.
not at all, its pretty fun being out for a week without your parents... you wont even really think about them for the most part until the forum is over.

I know what you mean about wanting a week away from the parents. A month ago I got back from a 10-day trip without my family. It was nice, I will admit. Is anyone planning on bringing a laptop with them?? It says it's discouraged, but I've read that people have brought them.
