Hey, I just got invited to go to NYLF on Medicine for summer of 2009 but my parents refuse to put 1 penny towards me going, I have to raise all of the money and I'm finding it near impossible to find a fundraiser for one person. I was wondering if anyone knows about sponsorhips for this or scholarships? Please let me know soon, the deadline is December 12th.

Well I'm going to the one on Law & CSI I believe there's a scholarship you may sign up for or they have some fundraising methods. You should try it :]

Jen, I have the same problem. I just started writing letters to the "big wigs" in my town and state asking for sponsorship. I works really well. I've already raised about $600! Give it a try! I hope this helped! -Eric

Same here. I live all the way on Guam, and the air fare price is similar to the tuition itself. From what I hear, asking companies for monetary donations DOES help.
Two of my friends (who are financially well- off) also got invited, and they have no problem paying for anything. I'm kind of embarassed to ask anyone in my school for help, so if any of you have more suggestions for fundraisers, please reply, or email me at statified21@hotmail.com (I have the fundraising booklet already)

People are so stubborn with money down here in alabama. Anniston particularly. No one will give me a dime. Then,I'm afraid if I did get some money , they'll try and rob/jack you

I am wondering just how much they offer for scholarships. Does it SIGNIFICANTLY help with paying for tuition? This is for the 2009 forum. Does it also depend on where I am going? email me back @ beautifulgrrl2004@yahoo.com
And another question in addition to the others: I dnt want to rely on businesses to give me all the money I need in time- any ideas on other ways that I could raise the money in time for the May 2009 deadline for the Med Forum?
I raised over $1000 last year just writing letters to random company's telling them where i am going and how it would help me. Only half responded, so you need to write alot of them. Also there is a website (im not sure of it at the moment so you can google it) where you can buy a case of candy for a cheap price and they sell the candy bars for a dollar or whatever price you want to put on it. But you can raise money doing just about anything.

This is very helpful, but what companies do you write letters to specifically? That's the only thing I am unsure about.
