Hey, what are some items that i should bring that are usually overlooked?

+ I'm not sure how much money to bring?... Are we going to have time to do any shopping?... What about going to the ocean?!!!... and what about other attractions do we get to visit those?...

+ Will we be able to keep food in the dorms?... how much time do you spend in the dorms anyways?...

+ With clothing is proffessional attire just basically wearing a suit?... and with casual clothin where would we be going in them?... cause my casual clotes are gym shorts and a cut off gym shirt

sorry if all these questions are overwhelming but i'm really nervous that i'm not going to fit the bill...

What is the status on towels? (Specifically, how many will we receive and and shoulds we bring many of our own.)

@chandra
1)i brought 150 with me at the end of the forum i had 25 left
yes you will be able to go shopping at the santa monica pier and the city walk in Universal studios
and yes you can swim
2)depends on the food. the dorms dont have refrigerators, although there is a vending machine at the lower lever of the dorms
3)pretty much yeah. you'll be wearing them at mostly nighttime and during weekends
btw if your gonna buy food at night you have to do it before security check

@kyoya
towels are provided for you and your roommate. however its very thin, so its up to you if its worth it to bring it

and oh dont forget to have fun Big Grin

Thanks. Are the towels given daily or bi-daily, etc?

1. Honestly it depends on the person however i would spent about $5-$8 on lunch a day whenever we ate at ackerman so you should bring about $80 dollars for lunch just in case. You'll be going to Santa Monica Pier and Universal Studios I think so bring money for those.
2. Depends on the food there is no fridge or microwave so maybe snacks only. You'll be spending from about 11pm-7am in the dorms each day. Some days you spend more and if you finish lunch or dinner early you make go back to the dorms until med sessions.
3.You'll be wearing casual clothes only when you go to Santa Monica Pier and Universal Studios and some time other than that but not much. Most the days is mainly relaxed professional.

to kyoya they will give you towels but they are the best so if you want you can bring your own or use the one they give you. I think most of the time they changed them daily. They clean your room daily.

Yes you can invite people to the pier to habg out with. The only thing is you have distance restrictions so you can't go pass a certain street

If they clean our rooms daily, does that mean that the sheets are changed daily also? (That would be pretty nifty.)

No it's just like a hotel. They change the towels and make up the beds, but they don't change the sheets

I think they changed the sheets but I'm not sure how much. On the first night I got a cut and it bled onto my sheet but then the next day the blood stain was gone so i think they changed it I don't know about other times though.

How many of you got to actually go to your #1 choice for your clinical visit? I mean really, with 300 plus scholars and only 8 get to visit C.H.O.C and only 2 females get to visit UCLA's OB/GYN dept. and the other big hospitals are the same. It's the small unknown hospitals where the majority of scholars end up, and some end up at the Adult Day Care Center or Quest Diagnostics, neither of which are hospitals. Alot is sacraficed by alot of families so scholars can attend this event, only to end up not even getting to visit a hospital. Huge dissapointment.

depending on how much you want to spend. i went to the LA session at UCLA and breakfast and dinner were included in the tuition. you just need to buy lunch, and depending on where you go for lunch, the price varies. at the ackerman union (that's the place that find the UCLA stores and the food court), you can buy food in the UCLA stores, and that's no more than 10 at most, or you can go to the food court. they have rubio's, panda express, jumba juice, carl's jr., etc. so the prices there are the same as the ones everywhere else. however, you don't always go to ackerman. you should definitely bring your swim gears if you plan on going into the ocean at santa monica beach. or you can just spend the whole day shopping or go on rides. just keep in mind that everything at tourist attractions (meaning santa monica beach and universal) are more expensive, so if you plan on going on a shopping spree, bring at least $200, that's what i did.
