You really don't need to know background info. For the projects they'll give you time to do research.

I just got back from LA session 2 yesterday and they give you this giant book once you get there. It has all the information you need to know, but you don't read all of it.

It was an amazing experience. You learn lots of new things and they get the boring stuff over with first so you look forward to more at the end. If you're in the Pasteur group with Felix you'll have the best time ever!!

Sorry I'm posting late. I'm not even sure if you'll be able to read this before you leave.

I really enjoyed NYLF and was very nervous that I didn't do any research. I remember there were a couple of sites that were recommended, so I skimmed through a couple of the stuff they go through, but I didn't pay any particular attention to the information. At NYLF they WILL give you this sort of manual that has a lot of stuff you might go through. Don't feel like you have to know everything because most of the people I went with (me as well) were "unprepared" ad didn't know much about what to expect.

You'll have a great time and learn a lot.
