Yes, professional is suits. I'm not exactly sure what you're calling a golf shirt, but if it's a polo type shirt, that's usually fine.

Capris are not professional. When I went, most girls would wear a black skirt or other professional-ish skirt (solid color, not super bright, basic style) with a nice top. Girls can also wear dress suits, or even pants suits. If you wear a sundress you need a sweater with it, and I really don't think that leggings are professional
You should have received a dress code in your acceptance packet. THat should help you a bit

You should get a packet with information about the dress code and stuff, fairly soon. That information is also online, once you receive the password for the attendee's area

So if you wear a dress that has sleeves, do you still need to wear a sweater or can dresses be worn without sweaters?

As long as its not spaghetti strap or halter or strapless it should be fine to wear without a sweater. Its really a judgment call [does it look professional?] If you need more specific help you can always ask your FA once you get there. Thats what they are for!

Flats are your best bet. You will do a lot of walking. They MUST be fully closed for site visits. On campus you can wear dressy sandals or shoes that have open fronts but you must have fully closed toe/heel shoes for site visits. Heels are ok, but not recommended because of the amount of walking you will do

Are bermuda pants the type that go to the knee? If so those are definitely not professional, and more than likely could only be considered casual. Look for skirts and dress pants

The skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee, I believe.

Wear something you would wear in the presence of someone extremely important like the President or Obama or the Queen of England. Make sure you look presentable and use good judgment. andddd Make sure you are fully covered [wardrobe malfunctions are not acceptable]

So are gauchos considered relaxed professional? And how often are we going to be wearing the closed toe closed heel shoes?

Gauchos are more than likely only casual. You can bring them and ask your FA; they have the final judgment on all dress code stuff, but don't rely on them for any outfits.
Closed shoes will be worn probably 3 times (3 site visits)

Since flats are open at the top, I don't understand what kind of dress shoes for girls exist that are completely closed??

Completely closed means the toe must be closed, and the heel must be covered. The top can be open, so flats are fine. You just need closed toe, closed heel. WHen I say completely closed I mean no peep holes at the front, and no backless or sling back shoes
