other than the basic things that we were told to bring in the packet, what are some other things that we should bring to the forum?

We probably will be busy, but you should still bring it to call home and stuff.

Uh yeah. You're pretty much allowed to use your phone any time as long as it's not in the clinical visits or hospitals or when someone is giving a speech or something. Trust me. You DO need them. You'll be using it alot.

Will we be allowed to do laundry? and what's the difference between professional attire and relaxed professional attire?

They tell you what clothes are under which type in the packets, I think that some people have gotten answers to that same question in earlier messages also. I think a deck of cards would be helpful, could get everyone together and start the talking on the first couple of days also! Always worked for me!!!

yes you will definitely have time to use cell phones. Sure the days are pretty packed and even during free time you are still hanging out with the friends you will make at the forum. But nighttime is a great time for phone calls to home friends and parents. Some things you NEED to bring...
1.Umbrella!(unexpected storm for 3 days and everyone had to buy umbrellas there..not fun!)
2.band aids..professional shoes and lots of walking do not mix. and just trust me when i say you will be walking A LOT!
3. cameras! capture those awesome memories!
4. some decent snacks. the food at the college i stayed at was horrible! thank goodness my faculty adviser was so nice and bought us a huge box of lucky charms just so we could survive!

I also brought a portable DVD player and some movies so our group could have bonding movie nights.

as for the curling irons and stuff you may or may not have time to use them. wake up was at like 6:30ish for us and I am not a morning person so I would never have time. There is places to do laundry, but when you are taking in everything that NYLF has to offer (socials, activities, ect) you don't really have time.

ohh and i forgot to mention sweaters or extra blankets.
The rooms at some forums are extremely cold! in Philadelphia the air conditioners needed to be on all night or else water would leak onto the floor and it was so cold. so remember jackets!
