In the information that the NYLF sent me and presumably everyone else, there is a section that says we will take part in a national security simulation exercise.
It also says that we need to do some independent researce before we arrive. Has anyone looked at this info or what not to get ready?
My mom is flippin out about it lol.

Wow. Are everybody's mothers freaking out over this? Mine is too. I keep telling myself that I will review this Nigeria stuff, but never get around to it. I seem to be treating this as school work.
ya my mom was like have you studied for your trip and i was like ah i read that we will find out everything that we need when we got there. But she still wanted me to study for it. lol yup I think it's a mom thing!

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag that gives the protestor the right to burn the flag.

haha...but suprisingly my mom isn't worried about it, because I was told if I wanted to go I had to take care of all the details. . .so, I'm worrying about it enough for the both of us. But yeah. . .I sya just study hard, look up those books they reccomended in a library, read em, and that sort of thing. I suppose that helps. If anyone finds an e-copy of any one of those books, I'd love to know about it.

blondeclimber, I'm nervous too, but I'm so busy trying to catch up on school AND get a little bit ahead before this deal, that I am trying not to worry about it too much. . .but yeah, nervous too.

Truthfully, a general understanding of the region will be sufficient. You needn't be an expert on Nigerian foreign policy or anything. All of that is included in the simulation. Plus, the whole scenario is hypothetical so there is not a way to aptly prepare for such a situation.

I'm definately nervous as well...I've been freaking out about the simulation and trying to get prepared. I don't know how much to know and the specifics I need to know. I don't feel like I have enough time to be completely prepared before I leave.
Well the bright side to it all is that we are all in the same boat, for the most part. So, hey, we'll all be a little unsure, not quite sure what to study for, and slightly nervous. But I'm positive that once we get there everything will be clear, and we'll have a great time. ;-)

I think I'm more interested in trying to keep up with the current events. I'm really bad with history, I don't have any kind of tv, and the only times I can get on the internet is when I'm at work or before school.
Everything you NEED to know will be provided there. A basic understanding of Guinean and Nigerian culture is helpful I guess, but mainly if you can think under pressure and with NO sleep you'll be fine. You spent like 3 days preparing for it with speakers and meeting and stuff and then you do the simulation, it was intense but incredible.
Anyone reading this from Hall group 31-5?

How's the research coming about Nigeria? I have been trying and the only place I can find any intelligent information is on msnbc.com and it is pretty vague at that.
