I asked the same question, plus a few others in the Alumni section. You can see his reply:
here

Short answer: you don't need a notebook, but do bring a pen. . .

ldhspc1223 said don't bring a notebook, but I would recommend it. I'm pretty organized, and so it truly helped taking notes. But he was also right that it gave you a lot of room in your book that you're given to take notes. The pen really is helpful. I didn't like the provided one either.
Also, girls will probably want to bring a somewhat bigger purse, and maybe even the guys will want to bring a backpack or bag. bring nice clothes for every day that you're there, but also be sure to bring jeans for the evenings. You don't HAVE to go to the socials, but they were a lot of fun. I mean, you're there to meet people. For the dance, it's just a social, but with music. Wear whatever. Bring a camera and a book or something. Snack food might be a good idea, though there is a lot of that in the gift shop. Bring the regular stuff you would on a trip (socks, shoes, underwear, sopa, shampoo, toiletries). You might want a CD or mp3 player for the bus rides or at night in your rooms. Bring your cell phone (like you'd go anywhere without it) and charger. You will have a little time at night to do some homework, but don't freak out about it. You're on this trip to have a good time, so don't annoy your roommates. Like mine did. Just be normal and don't talk to your boyfriend on the phone for 4 hours every night and don't do your homework for forever and then expect me to stay up with you for another 2 hours looking at every single picture taken of some weird popstar. /end rant.
That should give you some guidelines. Any other questions? Be sure to ask. But just don't freak out and ask things like "are stripes acceptable professional attire?"

Thanks also for the comments Caroline Leigh. They were helpful too. Thanks a lot. It was interesting that you mentioned having time to do homework. I might bring some, but then again, I just might not. ;-D

When you mentioned snack food, did you mean for during the day? What qualifies as snack food? Did you mean to keep in your room or carry out in your bag?

I'm not the type of person who generally carries a purse. But when you said a somewhat bigger purse, I'm wondering what you mean by that? How big, for instance?

Is a cell phone absolutely neccesary? What would be the advantages of bringing a cell phone? Is there a phone we could use in the hotel?

Thanks again.

Bring your cell if you want to, say, call home. I would not anticipate your getting lost but it could be useful in such a crisis. You can use the phone in the hotel room.

Most of the stuff not listed on any brochure is going to vary from person to person. If you know you can not live without taking notes - bring a notebook. If you always listen to music - bring music. Etc.
