Kate C,

I am worried about flying too..I get lost everywhere I go so I feel I'm bound to get lost in the airport! And the simulation I'm concerned about as well, I don't know how prepared to be. Any advice from the alumni about this?

Here's a little hint on the preparedness you'll need for the simulation: none.
You've got knowledge, you have common sense. Those are some of the biggest things you can use. Throughout the week, you get information on the simulation. Well, maybe not it directly, but you'll get good defense and diplomacy techniques so that you can handle what happens in the simulation. One thing that you definitely need to remember is that you can't keep other people in the cabinet in the dark. I'm not really gonna elaborate on that, but make sure if, for example you're the SecDef (that was my job), when you get intel, make sure Sec of State, Director of Natl Intel, and most importantly the president all know what's going on. That was probably the biggest mistake with my group's simulation. But you'll have fun.

Thanks a LOT for the advice, Caroline Leigh. I really appreciate it. I'll try to remember that. Big Grin But how can you be so sure I have knowledge? That's the part I'm worried about. What knowledge? What common sense? ;-D

Well, I_am_me, the thing I know I'm going to do in the airport is that, just as soon as you start feeling confused or uncertain about where to go, ask one of the uniformed people. They ALWAYS know what's going on and where you should be next. Just don't be afraid to ask them. I'm probably going to be perpetually attatched to an information desk. :P j/k. Have you flown before?
I'm actually more worried about losing luggage.

Well, it's great to know that I won't need to prep extensively for this, mostly I'm going to see what a career in this area would be like. Hopefully I'll make some new friends, have fun missing school and (god forbid) learn something.

I'm going because it honestly sounds like it's right up my alley. Go to DC, be around smart people, wear a suit, visit Quantico and Annapolis, and get a week's vacation from it. The NYLF Forum also washes clothes without bleaching them! Big Grin

I'm also really hoping on getting into the Naval Academy next year, and this will help me with that.

haha, that was a great response there, Brian. It's up my alley too, so to speak.
I like being around smart people. . .although you guys are probably too smart for me. ;-D
