Hmm... I like Washington, but it does rain a lot. Although these past two weeks have been awesome, cuz everyone is totally pumped for the game today. GO SEAHAWKS!!!!! WooHoo! Its not really boring, you can always go see a cool show or go to a dance club in seattle if you want something to do. We just classify people here by eastern or western washington, cuz we are split down the middle by the mountains. I am in western washington, where it rains and is on the waterfront, eastern washington is a desert and isn't quite so non-traditional and bohemian as the western half...

Hey Veronica and Josh i'm Addison from VA, if you have questions about anything in DC feel free to ask me because i've like like 45 minutes from there and have been there tons of times. I used to be in Civil Air Patrol but had to quit because of sports.

And sorry Lauren but i hate the seahawks. I can't believe they tried to steal A&M's 12th man tradition and then play it off like they had nothing to do with it. A&M's 12th man tradition is 73 years old and has a crazy cool story about how it started. They even continue the tradition today by having a walk-on player play only special teams and wear number 12. The seahawk organization did their whole 12th man thing simply because the fans are loud, with no tradition behind it. And the seahawks aren't the first ones to try it 3 other pro teams have done the same thing. Each time a team tried to do the 12th man thing A&M has written them a letter politely asking them to stop and all the other teams have. However when seattle got the same letter they tried to play it off like it was only the fans and the organization had nothing to do with it. Which is ironic because the organization retired the 12 jersey in honor of the fans. So until the seahawks rectify the situation they will remain on my shitlist.

Congrats to the Steelers for their SuperBowl XL win.

Hate them as much as you will, but even you must admit the refs were calling some crazy fouls today... it was sooo unfair against the Hawks!! Only two flags were called on Pittsburgh, and they were in the first two minutes of the game! And why on earth they counted some of the stuff for the Steelers, I can't even comprehend it. It was totally rigged. *pouts* And I know that there is controversy over the 12th man thing, and I don't know what all is going on with it, but that doesn't mean that you should hate a team from a city that has never won anything with any of its teams, and was excited to finally have a chance and get noticed for something besides the WTO riots... That's just not very nice.

I hate the seahawks not because they simply tried to copy the 12th man stuff i mean alot of people have tried to do that and it would be stupid on my part to hate for something that petty. I hate the seahawks because they are trying to lie their way out of the situation when A&M politely asked them to stop. I mean I've never had anything against the Seahawks and truly wanted to see them do well until i learned of their reaction to the 12th man letter. If i were an organization i'd want my traditions to be original so what the seahawks are doing makes no sense. So like i said untill the seahawks make amends they will remain on my shitlist.

However i do have to agree with you on the refs they blew alot of calls. Daryl Jackson's first touchdown was not a penlty and was a really good play by matt hasselback/DJ. I do think ben rotheslisburger scored on that play tho because only some part of the ball has to touch the goal line for it to be a touchdown and i think the tip of the ball touched the goal line. I think the refs made alot of good calls against the seahawks tho because to stop Pittsburgs defense like that something had to be amiss because their defense is really really good, and as good as the seahawks offense is the way they were beating them didnt' fit right. If matt hasselback was making great plays and scrambeling all the time to make throws i would have said ok the seahawks offense simply was better, but hasselback having all that time in the pocket made no sense becaue of how the steelers defense plays and thus the penelties on the seahawks O-line make sense. But as bad as the refs may have been i think the steelers still would have won anyway. I think the Steelers were simply more driven to take the game and they did at the end.

And i'm from VA like 45 minutes from where we're staying. And naw the weather here has sucked this year like it rained all day saturday, it's actually really pathetic.

Addison-how cold is it in DC?

Politics, FPOTUS? Pfft, we've got a week to argue when we're in Washington. Right now it's time for arguing the Super Bowl and telling each other where we're from :P

I'm with Brian on that one, politics will come.

And the weather varies alot, like today it was pretty mild like mid 40's maybe low 50's but the wind was a little chilly. Sunday tho it was like 20 and it was cold. For me i'm gonna pack stuff that i can wear alot of layers with and if it gets warm i can take them off. I'd probably bring a decent jacket for casual stuff tho cause there will probably be atleast 1 day when it will be too cold for just a sweatshirt. The only bad thing about DC is that because it's right on the water the wind does tend to blow alot so i'd expect decently cold weather simply because of the wind. I'll probably pack all long sleeve dress shirts and be fine with just a blazer on but i don't like being hot either. And i'll probably bring my letter jacket for casual stuff if that helps anyone with packing.

EEK! Wind is bad... almost all of my suits have skirt bottoms. I will just have to be cold, I guess. And, as for the superbowl, ben rotheslisburger did not score, it was obvious that the ball hit the ground before it touched the line. I'm sorry, but when a ref looks sad to make a good call for a team (when he reversed the fumble in the 3rd quarter), you know something is amiss. I will admit it was not seattle's best game. Some of the things they had been working on all year kinda flew out the window when they went on the field, but the crappy calls in the beginning of the game just killed thier momentum. I hoped when they got the interception at the end it might get the ball rolling, but alas, another crappy call. So, about the steelers being driven... so was seattle. The fans were behind the team all the way, and the team wanted it really bad. About 3/4 of my school of 2100 kids came out on friday covered in seahawks stuff. You couldn't go anywhere without seeing blue and green. It was a Seahawk Epidemic, that unfortunatly was not cured by a win.

Like i said i don't believe the bad ref's blew the game because the calls they made for the most part were good and ben did score, the tip of the ball touched the goal line as he fell on it. Even with the bad calls i still think the outcome would have been 21-17 steelers because the steelers took over during the final quarter expecially after the Ike Taylor interception. And i think alot of the calls the refs made that took away momentum were actually correct. Because like i said before, the big plays seattle made Matt Hasselback had tons of time to throw in the pocket and he had that much time because the o-line was holding the defense. So in that sense i think the refs were good. And as far as a sad face, the head ref and Mike Holmgren are friends so idk what you mean by being sad he looked perfectly normal to me. I can understand that all the seattle fans feel cheated it's normal when there's atleast 1 bad call in a game but overall like i said the refs did not affect the outcome of that game to the point that seattle didn't win. Seattle lost the game fair and square, maybe they should have only lost by 4 points instead of 11, but either way they lost and that's what matters in the end.

Personally, I wasn't so impressed with this year's Super Bowl...

Sorry Lauren, I have to go with Addison on this one. I think the calls they made in the game were pretty fair. The only ones I had issues with were that pushing off penalty called on the touchdown pass. That was crap. I think that Rothlisberger's touchdown could have been called either way. The fact that they initally ruled it a touchdown is what made it one because to overturn a call on the field, there has to be indisputible evidence, and on the camera angles they had on TV, there was no way to tell if the ball was in or not. So I think the right thing happened.

But what about those commercials this year? They were decent, I thought. I have to say the one with Favio was my favorite.

Cheer for the Tar Heels tonight against those #$#%$%*&(^% dookies. Smile TAR HEELS ALL THE WAY BABY!

I thought the budlight commerical with the bear was hilarious. And the Ameriquest mortgage commercials were pretty funny too.

I love Duke UNC games, my dad went to Wake Forest (IDK how far you live from those 3 schools Sam) but like they're huge games usually really really good and can go to any of the teams. Wake's not having such a great year this year but Duke and UNC are each really good. I'm really just hoping for a good game like the Boston College Duke game last week. But yea i'd love to hear the UNC fans chant over-rated and because it's at UNC i'm gonna have to go with the heels on this one.
