2006 Spring Law Attendee
Posted
Hello, my name is Tyler Voss, I am a 17 year old junior from Illinois and I attended the NYLF forum on law Feburary 7-12 this year. I just recently took the survey sent to my email and found this message board, so I figured I would give it a shot.

To the staff: Thank you. I can not imagine the stress level it takes to deal with 360 hormone filled teenagers for a week, four weeks in a row! It truely was a once in a lifetime expirience, and you all know we had a good time making new friends and being social, and boy was it ever, but it also gave me a lot of incite into a profession I thought I knew a lot about, but in fact did not. The FA's, the organizers, and even those hall monitor's/room checkers we all hate to answer to at 11 o'clock at night, all do a terrific job, my thanks!

To the future students: Get ready, this is no walk in the park. You will be on the move, and learning, and working (oh man, those 2 hour brief writings are killers!) BUT it is also an amazing chance to see mroe of the world and the people in it, at least from the USA. You will make friends, maybe meet someone of the opposite gender, who knows, but you have to open yourself to it. The first 2 days, no one knows anyone, take the initiative, at dinner, sit down at a table full of strangers, introduce yourself, and get in there!

To the alumni: Man that was a blast. I don't expect to find anyone from my conference, especially people I know and became friends with, but there is always that chance! (P.S., Rock group is the best, and Michael Poncy is my hero (our FA). I hope to share some interesting political and other random conversation with you all, but in general, another message board to meet new people, who can complain?

P.S. I read the "Let's do that again" section, but it was quite unclear, is there a way to, if we raise the proper funding, return to the NYLF, or do we once again have to be nomianted by an intructor at our school and whatnot? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the boards, Voss the Boss. Regarding your question, yes, it's definitely possible to return to attend NYLF again (see my member title for one example Wink). As long as you haven't started college (up to and including the the summer before you go to college), you're able to return. I'm not sure if valid alumni (still in high school) are automatically sent nomination packets at this time. but when you get your alumni matterials in a few months, simply include your name/contact info when nominating other scholars as well.

Glad you had such a great time. Enjoy conversing on the message boards.
